Rubber Band Gun V1
A simple 3D-printed rubber band gun designed to swat flies with engineered precision—because not everyone inherits grandpa’s skills.
Project Overview
Rubber Band Gun V1 is a simple, yet effective, 3D-printed launcher that holds up to four rubber bands. It uses an alternating stair-step mechanism to load and fire, originally designed to take down house flies with precision—an homage to my grandfather’s legendary rubber band marksmanship.
Approach & Solution
Inspired by family stories of my grandfather's uncanny ability to hit flies out of the air, I decided to engineer my way to similar greatness. Since my inherited skills didn’t quite measure up, I created a straightforward mechanical solution that generally worked well—at least better than my aim.
Outcome & Results
While V1 successfully fired rubber bands, it left me pondering how to make a more intricate and efficient launcher. This curiosity sparked an obsession with creating increasingly complex versions, leading to V2 and V3.
